IDIS continues its work of revival and restoration of Andrés
Segovia’s historical recordings proposing a series of wonderful studio
and live recordings made by the great Spanish musician in 1955-56. In that period
Segovia’s peerless artistry was at its best, and the maestro performed,
both in concert and in the recording hall, some of the classical pieces of his
repertoire with a poetry and technical perfection which he would no longer achieve
after the middle of the 1960s. Particularly interesting are his interpretations
of the works of Francisco Tarrega, performed with great elegance and a virtuosity
that is brilliant yet masterfully controlled.
